Bray Rowing Club
Rowing in Bray has a long and proud tradition, and evidence of this is still to be seen on the seafront to-day in the fine granite buildings of the Coastguard station and the Boat houses.
Bray rowing club is one of the oldest sports clubs around, with reference to BRC competing in the Dalkey regatta of 1875
In the 1930’s BRC were one of the most successful clubs on the east-coast, but rowing declined during the war years, and it was the early 50,s before it was revived again.
Our present club was re-established in 1970 by Noel and Bill Walsh, Jack and Liam Cleary, Joe Naylor, Paul O’Sullivan, Michael Doyle and a few dedicated others, and became affiliated to the East Coast Rowing Council.
While Bray always had successful under age and ladies crews, it only when we got possession of our present boat house on the promenade, that we started to become a force on the East Coast, culminating in our historic win of the Wicklow senior cup.
